Thank you for booking your whanau/Kura surf lesson with us!
We will be in touch either the evening before or early in the morning to confirm the lesson location. Sometimes the weather and waves don't always co operate on our scheduled days. We try to rebook a day that works for everyone, please let us know at the time of booking your best alternative day. Our surf lessons are usually located at 'Pipe' Town beach near Midway, Roberts road or Northern Makorori Beach.
We provide your wetsuit and surfboard. No experience is needed, but basic swimming ability is essential for your safety. Parents/ guardians of children under 13 must remain for the duration of the lesson. Kids are most welcome to bring their own board and wetsuit. Please ensure these are named esp wetsuits as kids tend to forget them and the wetsuits end up back in with our surf school wetsuits. It's pretty hard to locate when they are black size 10 etc! Kids should apply their sunblock before they head to the beach! Or well before the lesson begins. ( this avoids it running in their eyes in the water and sand getting stuck to it etc).
Extra helpers/ whanau are always welcome as an extra set of eyes is always helpful however we ask that for safety reasons they can swim and are wearing wetsuits if in the water.
Please outline any existing injuries and medical conditions to the coach before joining in. If any of the group have a medical condition such as asthma, heart condition, or are also hearing/ sight impaired, also kids with any learning or behavior please advise us and their names, it’s helpful for the coach to know in advance. For kids that wear glasses or hearing aids, we keep a plastic tub down on the beach and a clear plastic bag so they can safely keep their glasses in there and put them back on when they come out of the water. The head coach keeps a first aid kit and a fully charged cell phone. Please report any incidents no matter how minor.
